What this tool does
HANEVector is a free tool that opens Adobe Illustrator .ai files and EPS files in your browser and converts them to SVG, PDF or PNG. No installation and no sign-up. Everything runs inside your browser, and your files are never uploaded or stored on a server.
-
👀View .ai files without Illustrator
Open .ai files from a print shop or designer and check them on the spot — no more asking them to resend in another format.
-
✨True vector SVG
Lines and text are converted to SVG as shapes, not rasterized, so they stay sharp at any zoom. Fonts are embedded so text displays correctly.
-
📄Lossless PDF
An .ai file contains a PDF inside, which is extracted as-is without rasterizing. Logos and line drawings stay crisp.
-
🖼Export images at any resolution
Export PNG or JPEG at 96–600 dpi. Use 150 dpi for documents and 300 dpi or more for print.
Can open: .ai files saved with "Create PDF Compatible File" (Illustrator's default, so this covers almost all of them), PDF, EPS exported by Illustrator, and SVG.
Cannot open: older EPS files with no PDF data inside (pure PostScript) and CorelDRAW .cdr files. In practice only Ghostscript can interpret these, and its license (AGPL) cannot be built into a web service, so they are not supported.
How to use it
- Open a fileDrag in or choose an .ai, .pdf, .eps or .svg file.
- PreviewFor multi-page files, switch pages with "Prev / Next". The page size is shown in mm and inches.
- SavePick SVG, PDF, PNG or JPEG. SVG and PDF stay sharp at any size.
When it comes in handy
When you receive an EPS you can't open
EPS files exported by Illustrator open as they are.
An Illustrator EPS contains a complete PDF inside the file, and this tool extracts and displays it. If a file will not open, it has no PDF inside — the surest fix is to ask the sender for a PDF.
Using a logo on your website
Save it as SVG and the logo stays sharp at any size.
Open the logo .ai and save it as SVG, and you can put it straight on a web page. The file is small and stays crisp on high-resolution phone screens. If you want a transparent background, check that the original artwork does not include a white background.
Adding artwork to documents
Save a PNG at 150 or 300 dpi and insert it into Word or PowerPoint.
PNG keeps a transparent background. Use 300 dpi for printed documents; 150 dpi is enough for on-screen use. 600 dpi creates very large files, so use it only when needed.
When text shows up in the wrong font
The fonts are probably not embedded in the original file.
Text that has not been converted to outlines in Illustrator is stored only as font references. If the fonts are embedded it displays correctly; if not, a similar font is substituted. For an exact match, ask the creator to re-save with the text converted to outlines or with fonts embedded.
This tool reads the PDF data contained in a file to display and convert it. We do not guarantee that every file will open or that the original appearance will be reproduced exactly. Special effects and print settings such as spot colors and overprint may be lost in conversion. Always confirm print-ready files with your print shop. We accept no liability for any damage resulting from use of this tool. For details, see our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
