HANEPad - Sources and Licences HANETOOL (hanetool.com) / Nihon Car Net Co., Ltd. This page lists the third-party data and software bundled with HANEPad, and the licence of each. All of them are used inside the browser only; nothing typed, drawn or uploaded by the user is sent anywhere. ================================================================ 1. KANJIDIC2 (kanji readings, meanings, stroke counts, radicals) ================================================================ Copyright (C) James William BREEN and The Electronic Dictionary Research and Development Group (EDRDG) Licence : Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-SA 4.0) https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/ Project : https://www.edrdg.org/wiki/index.php/KANJIDIC_Project Licence statement : https://www.edrdg.org/edrdg/licence.html The file data/kanji.js bundled with this tool is derived from KANJIDIC2 and is therefore itself made available under CC BY-SA 4.0. It contains, for each kanji: the character, stroke count, classical (KangXi) radical number, school grade, frequency rank, JLPT level, on/kun/nanori readings and English meanings. Fields whose copyright is held by third parties under the "Special Conditions" of section 8 of the EDRDG licence statement are deliberately NOT included: - SKIP codes (Jack HALPERN) - Four Corner codes and Morohashi references (Urs APP) - De Roo codes (Joseph DE ROO) - Spahn / Hadamitzky descriptors - Korean readings (Charles MULLER) - Pinyin (Christian WITTERN, Koichi YASUOKA) As required by section 4 of the EDRDG licence statement, this data is refreshed automatically from the latest published KANJIDIC2 at least once a month by /usr/local/sbin/hanetool-kanjidic-update.py . ================================================================ 2. Emojibase (emoji names and Japanese search keywords) ================================================================ Copyright (c) 2017-2019 Miles Johnson Licence : MIT Project : https://github.com/milesj/emojibase The Japanese names and keywords in Emojibase come from the Unicode CLDR annotations, published by the Unicode Consortium under the Unicode License (Unicode-DFS-2016). https://cldr.unicode.org/ MIT License Permission is hereby granted, free of charge, to any person obtaining a copy of this software and associated documentation files (the "Software"), to deal in the Software without restriction, including without limitation the rights to use, copy, modify, merge, publish, distribute, sublicense, and/or sell copies of the Software, and to permit persons to whom the Software is furnished to do so, subject to the following conditions: The above copyright notice and this permission notice shall be included in all copies or substantial portions of the Software. Kanji Canvas (stroke-order free handwriting recognition) ================================================================ Copyright (c) 2019-2024 Dominik Klein Copyright (c) 2020 Seth Clydesdale Licence : MIT (see vendor/LICENSE.kanjicanvas.txt) Project : http://github.com/asdfjkl/kanjicanvas The MIT licence of Kanji Canvas requires that the copyright notice include a hyperlink back to the project. That link is given above and also on the tool page itself. vendor/ref-patterns.js is the reference stroke data shipped with Kanji Canvas (two hand-made test entries removed, whitespace stripped). vendor/kana-patterns.js was generated by us from the hiragana/katakana stroke XML files shipped in the same repository, using the repository's own read_all.py feature extraction. It is therefore also MIT, Dominik Klein. ================================================================ 4. SigLIP (telling what a drawing or photo shows) ================================================================ Base model : google/siglip-base-patch16-224 Licence : Apache License 2.0 https://www.apache.org/licenses/LICENSE-2.0 ONNX build : Xenova/siglip-base-patch16-224 (Transformers.js) Only the image half of the model is shipped. The text half is not: the word vectors it produces were computed once, in advance, and are stored in data/vec.js as 8-bit integers. This part is optional. If models/siglip/ and data/vec.js are absent, the tool simply reports that the feature is not enabled and everything else keeps working. ================================================================ 5. Tesseract OCR (reading characters out of a photo) ================================================================ Licence : Apache License 2.0 Project : https://github.com/tesseract-ocr/tesseract https://github.com/naptha/tesseract.js HANEPad does not bundle its own copy. It re-uses the one already installed for HANECopy at /moji/vendor/ . See /licenses/ for the full notice. ================================================================ 6. libheif (opening iPhone HEIC photos) ================================================================ Licence : LGPL-3.0 Project : https://github.com/strukturag/libheif HANEPad does not bundle its own copy. It re-uses the one already installed for HANEConv at /conv/vendor/heic/ . See /licenses/ for the full notice. ================================================================ 7. Kaomoji list ================================================================ The 317 kaomoji (Japanese text faces) offered by this tool were selected and classified by Nihon Car Net Co., Ltd. from faces in common public use. The tool does not invent new ones; it only searches this list.
